- Module 1 : Understanding the Concepts of Child’s RightsThis session highlights the definition and dynamics of a Child’s rights. It also exposes participants to the rights of every child according to the Law. Expectation(s) By the end of this session Participants should be able to define and understand the dynamics of being a child and the rights associated with being a child. Participants should be able to know what could be regarded as children’s rights in the Nigerian Context. Participants should have a clear understanding of the legal implications of infringement of children’s rights. Participants should be able to debunk some socio-cultural myths that encourage child abuse Participants should have a clear understanding that children are individual persons in their rights.8

- Module 2 : Child AbuseThis session captures the issues regarding the definition and the various forms of child abuse. It proceeds to explicate what constitutes child abuse and neglect and further provides participants with clear indicators to identify the various forms of abuse/neglect and their implications for concern. Expectation(s) By the end of this session, Participants should be able to define and categorize the various forms of child abuse and neglect. Participants should be well-informed about individuals and organizations to report any suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect. Participants should know about their responsibilities and roles in reducing child abuse/neglect. Be equipped with skills to assess the vulnerability of a child and not necessarily define vulnerability based on a targeted group Be equipped with skills to assess the vulnerability of a child and not necessarily define vulnerability based on a targeted group Participants should have a clear understanding of the legal implications of child abuse and neglect3
- Module 3: Lagos State Executive Order On Safeguarding And Child Protection ProgrammeThis session highlights the various provisions of the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Programme. It also exposes participants to their responsibilities as caregivers and mandated reporters to report any suspected incident of child abuse, molestation, or neglect to the appropriate authorities. Expectation(s) By the end of this session, participants will Be able to define child protection holistically and give examples of child protection issues within their community Be able to describe the key legislation and guidance that determines your organization’s policy for child safety and welfare Be able to respond to child protection through responsive action and remedial action Be able to identify the barriers to children and adults reporting concerns Be able to identify the relevant legislation and guidance that safeguards young people Be able to properly respond to child protection concerns Be able to make the right decisions about what steps to take when concerns about a child have been raised5
